Viking equipment is built heavy and runs hot, and the parts that give up are the ones living in that heat. The classic is the oven glow-bar igniter: it still glows orange, so it looks perfectly healthy, but it no longer draws enough current to open the safety valve. The oven takes longer and longer to light, then one morning it does not light at all, and what gets reported as a dead oven is a single component we carry.
Door hardware is the other job that keeps coming back. Viking doors are heavy, the hinges and springs carry that weight through thousands of cycles, and when they begin to settle the door stops sealing along the bottom edge first. Heat escapes at the front of the cavity, browning goes uneven front to back, and the whole thing reads as a calibration fault when it is mechanical. The seal and the hinge set get checked before anyone touches a thermostat.

The fridge side read fine at breakfast and was warm by dinner, freezer hard as ever. He pulled the top grille and the coil was packed solid. Decomposed granite drive, grove on two sides, and that's where it all ends up. Cleaned it and checked the shelf with a thermometer.
