Then there is what the air carries. This is grove country. Decomposed granite driveways, dirt access roads between the avocado and citrus rows, and a few weeks of ash most falls all end up in the same place: the condenser behind the grille, which is the only way a built-in has of getting rid of heat. A coastal unit might go a couple of years between cleanings and never complain. Out here we pull grilles that are packed solid, and the owner's description is nearly always the same, that it only seems to happen in the afternoon.
