What happens on the visit
- You describe the symptom. Brand, model if you have it, and what the appliance is actually doing. Half the time that is enough to know which part is coming on the van.
- We test before we quote. The grille or the rear panel comes off, temperatures are read at the coil rather than off the display, and the component is tested rather than assumed.
- You get the price first. Parts and labor, in one figure, before anything is fitted. It does not move afterwards.
- The repair, usually the same visit. The common failures on this equipment are carried as stock. Anything rarer is ordered as a factory-approved part and fitted on a second, scheduled visit.
What it costs
The diagnostic visit is charged at a flat rate, quoted to you when you book, so there is no uncertainty about what turning up costs.
The repair itself is quoted as one figure covering parts and labor, agreed before any work begins. We do not start and then discover something. If the sensible answer is that the appliance is not worth repairing, you are told that too — on equipment at this level it is rare, but it happens, and it is cheaper to hear it early.

Will the part be on the van, or is this going to take two visits?
The failures that account for most of this work are a short and predictable list, and those parts ride with us: evaporator and condenser fan motors, defrost heaters, thermistors, door gaskets, inlet valves and ice maker modules. Control boards vary by generation, which is exactly why the model number is worth reading out on the phone. What we fit is OEM or manufacturer-equivalent, because a cheap fan motor or board on this equipment tends to be back on the fault list within a season.
Our water comes from a well. Does that change how you approach an ice maker?
It changes the order of the checks. Every ice maker in this equipment was engineered around clean municipal supply at steady pressure, and a well gives it neither. Sediment collects in the inlet valve screen long before the valve itself wears out, mineral scales the fill tube and the mold until cubes stop releasing cleanly, and pressure sags while the pump is between cycles, which short-fills a mold that filled perfectly that morning. The water gets measured at the valve before anybody quotes a module.
